Travel by plane

The nearest international airports for overseas destinations are located in:

Duesseldorf/Germany (direct train connections to Aachen Main Station available, transfer time
90 min),
Brussels/Belgium (1 train change at Brussels Nord or Midi, transfer time 90 min) and
Frankfurt/Main/Germany (direct train connections to Aachen Main Station available, but mostly 1 train change at Cologne Main Station, transfer time 90-120 min).


Smaller but closer airports can be found in:

Cologne/Germany (several European destinations, 1 train change at Cologne Main Station, transfer time 70 min) and
Maastricht-Aachen/Netherlands (from and to Portugal, Spain and Italy, direct Airport Express Bus to Aachen Main Station available, transer time 45 min).

 

Travel by train and bus

From the airports, regional train connections to Aachen Hbf/Central Railway Stationare available.

Tickets for train transfer can be purchased at Deutsche Bahn.

Visa regulations

EU nationals do not require a visa to enter the Federal Republic of Germany.
A visa is not required for visits of up to 90 days in an 180‑day period for nationals of those countries for which the European Community has abolished the visa requirement.
Other foreigners require a visa for stays in Germany.
